The theme for this week is anything to do with  Churches, Cathedrals Chapels   either inside or outside  so it  could be  architecture,  views, windows , churchyards    statues , arches  doors .weddings etc ...so the world's your oyster . So either  get rummaging  through  your archives  or  even go out and get a new one if you want ...

Entries accepted up until midight on Friday  the 4th November and voting will take place after that until midnight on the 11th November .

I am hoping for a bumper entry !

To Kick things off....

The Priest Blessing the Bridegroom at a recent wedding......I only dare take the shot because more than half the congregation were using camera's, phone's and iPad's all through the service.

Hardly any of the congregation could speak English...one half from Portugal and the other from Bulgaria....a very unusual but enjoyable wedding; we were honoured to be guests.

My Vintage JUPITER 9 f 2 -85 mm doing its stuff again.

St Stephen's Bures, Suffolk (aka the Barn Church)

DSCN2516s.jpg

To be honest, probably more of interest for the story than the architecture or the photography.

The church is early 13th century, and the West end is a barn. It is the reputed site of Edmund's (later St Edmund) coronation, presumably after he crossed the Stour from Essex -- though there is precious little evidence (except that the present church was consecrated by the then Archbishop of Canterbury).
