Mumbles Lighthouse ...

Built in 1794  on the outer of two island s at Mumbles Head ... It's probably the most photographed    landmark in the area . It warned shipping of the treacherous sandbank known as Mixon Sands In Bracelet Bay .

 Many thanks you two ( or three..  )  for your positive comments .... Catherine Zeta Jones  was born and brought up in Mumbles apparently and she and actor Michael Douglas still have a house  in  town  ! As I said  before .. the beautiful landscape is there ...all I can do is record it  on camera  and hope  it captures some of it's  outstanding allure ...

I did a serious amount of walking during the week I can tell you !  I kept a look out for Rybear  whilst I was down there as it  I know  it's his neck of the woods but I didn't see  another soul with a camera !

Have you tried inverting this Left for Right, Like a negative ?? As it could read much better with the land to the Left leading up to the Lighthouse on the Right ??

 Thanks Colin.... Struggled a bit with the exposure  with that bright patch of sunlight  ...  but hey ho ... ... better than a slap in the face with a wet fish ! 

I can see where you are coming from Steve ,  (as an exercise ) from the aesthetic of the composition  but whilst  I am   not averse to using  editing software to improve any technical failures  with my photos I am a bit disinclined to completely change the geography of an image...  I will give it a go though  ....

The inversion reads much better, we read from left to right, so we see the same way, the inversion now has the image speaking to me, I love it !!

Also, as an addition, with film photography this is something we did all the time, as once the neg is processed, spinning it over in the dark room was the norm… so why not with Digital images, you know its not the image as taken, we don’t

I agree ...we read from left to right  so aesthetically  it  appears more balanced ....  and yes .. You  don't know  if it's  not geographically correct ( though Rybear  would ... he lives just down the road !  )   Anyway ...  thanks for the suggestion Steve ... I'll bear it in mind in the future .

Good capture with drama in the sky. I'd be tempted to crop out the right side to focus the image on the lighthouse.

Thanks Monomania…I did try that but particularly wanted a wide view  to incorporate the dark sky on the right  to contrast with the lighter area around the lighthouse which I thought emphasises the focus on the lighthouse ..  Determining what is the best version after processing / editing our photos is  often more related to the vision one hoped to capture at the time we  press the shutter button … Good to see you back on the forum MM ….appreciate the feedback as always …

That’s really kind of you Fogey … it’s rewarding when what you hope to capture in the viewfinder comes close to what you feel at the time…. And if someone else feels it too it’s a real bonus ..
