WOW !

I can only admire your wanting to venture down there.....I do like your use of fireworks/sparklers or rotating torch as a light source, it adds life to the shadows.

Not my kind of photography, but I admire you greatly for doing it.

I think the b&w one could do with a bit more contrast and toning.  Again, I've been very naughty with present constraints and probably hurried it

The top one was quite scary as there is a railway line that runs over it, and there was always the consideration that if the water level rose by 6 inches we might have trouble getting out again <sodemoji.1f600></sodemoji.1f600>

Love shot one, I've tried painting with light with a torch but never a firework! I might have had a go at reproducing it in the round tunnel in shot two.

Might have to give this a go myself!

It's actually an egg whisk bound with wire wool and magnesium, so take care

Oooer Strav..... do tell us more ... that's an interesting way of  painting with light .!

It's that simple really.  An egg whisk tied to a piece of rope, covered in wire wool impregnated with magnesium paste and set fire too.  Then you give it a twirl

It trends to last about 25 seconds, my exposures are usually about 30.  Luckily someone else always brings along the wire wool, so I dont get involved in putting it together

Although I've never tried this, one of  my chums at my photo-club has.  Basically it's a largish ball of steel wool tied to a length of wire (without any insulation on it), set alight then spun round by the attached wire.

I must try it one evening, but I'll have to find a 'safe' place to try it though, otherwise the locals will set the local constabulary on me....

We're intending to go up to Chesterton windmill in Warwickshire one night to do one, but we have to make sure its been raining as we dont want to set the field alight <sodemoji.1f642></sodemoji.1f642>

I’m learning a lot reading all the questions and answers here. All new to me. You go down underground to set up photos a lot?

That was the first time underground, but Ive done light painting in canal tunnels before.  This was a bit more involved as we needed equipment such as lighting as well as the wire wool
