This can be a statue, building or structure, a headstone or a tablet. A plinth or anything you have seen that records, or remembers a person, a location or an historical event. it is up to you and YOUR interpretation :) 

Old or new, especially taken, or from your archives.

This simple pair of stone plaques say so much when you stop to read them. They are in a cloister of church in a town we have visited so many times over the past 30 years. They refer to a subject which has to be in the front of your mind whenever visiting Germany and are a silent witness to awful times and happenings.

In memory of the 42 people, men, women and children, from Oerhingen who died in the Deathcamps of the National Socialist Terrors between 1938 and 1945.

At the end it says:-

The stones are silent and cold

The flags blow in the wind.

Taken in Belguim at Waterloo in 2015. The 200th anniversary of the Battle of Waterloo had over 6000 reeanactors taking part in this living monument to the lads of all the countries that took part in this battle in June 1815. This image is from the anniversary remembering the Battle of Waterloo.
