  1. Well its been a week for archive bug shots making us all long for the spring and summer to come...the weather not being the best in the UK has made for some wonderful snowscapes. Before I announce this weeks winner I would like to give an honourable mention to David995031 for his funny yet sad image which he posted in the just for fun section, where images dont show on the main pages, so often the post will disapear quickly much like the subject of said picture... his depiction of the disappearing snowman. On to this weeks POTW and my choice is one of the aforementioned snowy scenes and it comes from a new member. A great start to your membership here at TIPF.....I'm sure from what you have posted so far this will be the first of many POTW. Congratulations khm (Karl)...This wonderful shot of the sheep (Here's Looking at You) <<< LINK! They have such a wonderful characterful look when you photograph them... I think they make for such wonderful subjects and are such great posers.
  2. Just a random song plucked out of the air to pass away 3mins 40 seconds of the day.......any similarity to current events is purely coincidental.
  3. Stunning and a well deserved winner.
  4. My last POTW for this year and despite the lockdowns... be they national, local, tiered or what ever we are doing at the minutue... it seems to be another week for the landscapes. A couple of honerable mentions for Rybear (wrong weather forecast) & Black Pearl (Social Distancing) just two posts from this week containing some wonderful landscape shots in the sets of images from around their local areas. But on to this weeks POTW which I kept coming back too, this is a good sign its a winner and its another local landscape which captured some wonderfull detail in the foreground and a wonderful setting sun. It almost looks like two shots, with a nice placement of the pylon in that burst of sun and with its almost 50/50 split breaking the rules (I like rule breakers) this weeks POTW is awarded to..... Denis ~ Heading Home <<< Origional Post..... Congratulations Denis.
  5. Right, I'm back on POTW duty and this week was not as straight forward as my last two picks. There has been some streching of legs this week and the good folk of TIPF have been capturing some wonderful autumnal landscapes (Fogey, colinb & denis) to name but a few with some really nice sets of images from their walks. But this week I'm going with one shot (I could have picked any of the four) of the set by Ryewolf from his big cats shots (I'm a sucker for a big cat) ORIGINAL THREAD can be seen here. The intense look in this image is certainly a typical eye of the tiger stare.
  6. I don't think its going to come as a suprise which picture I have chosen for this weeks POTW......in fact it would have been more of a shock if I had not picked this image. My biggest descision this week was Colour or Mono........so at least it gave me a little to think about. In the end I went colour......but only just because I loved both versions. Congratulations go to Black Pearl for this shot of Roker Lighthouse (The Power of the Sea) <<< Origional post here.
  7. Congratulations Denis a worthy winner it's a great shot and a nice reminder of many a happy holiday I spent on that beech as a kid.
  8. Another week with a splendid mix of pictures for me to choose from. Yet again some great macro work, some nice portraits and as ever landscapes to be envious of. And a special mention for johntwo and his wonderful woodland light shot which pushed my eventual winner very close. But this weeks winning picture for some reason from first viewing I just couldn't get this shot out of my head which is the mark of a great picture. Although quite simple in its nature I found the subject and presentation right up my street... therefore a shot worthy for my choice of POTW. Congratulations goes this week to.................... FUJI for his mushroom still life............LINK TO ORIGINAL >>> NOT MUSH ROOM ON HERE
  9. I have had a little drive and a walk by the river so I can declare my eyesight good enough to allow me to choose this weeks POTW. Despite some wonderful macro work going on this week and a wonderful shot of the night sky from Denis which pushed the eventual winner close. I'm going to award this weeks POTW to...................Ryewolf for this shot from his Kestrel Part 2 <<< original thread here. A wonderful set of shots but this particular one with such amazing eye contact is my pick this week. Congratulations Geoff.
  10. You are not kidding............... it's already started
  11. Day One:- I'm a little bit behind everyone else... After 11 weeks of slogging my guts out at work today is my first week of three weeks on furlough. I can't say I was not a little bit P!$$£) off when I was first told but I do also understand the decisions from a business point of view. I guess the good part is the length of time I'm expecting to be off is relatively short compared to some of my colleagues who now have to go back at a time when work will only get busier as time goes on. Another positive is I can have a little more freedom than what they had at the start of this and as more things open up I might even get chance to go to YWP when they open next week. I'm also going to dust off the golf clubs and spoil a good walk. We should have been on holiday this week anyway and it always rains when we go on holiday so the weather taking a turn for the worse doesn't really bother me, everything feels as it should be. I'm also going to take some inspiration from some of you for these next few weeks and try and get my photography mojo back on track. The good lady wife has just headed to the shops for ingredients as I have promised to attempt to make Bara Brith for her Birthday tomorrow. Pictures to follow no doubt. I have been struggling to be inspired to take photos for a while now..... so rather than taking the radical step of ditching all my gear which I have been tempted to do on numerous occasions..... I had a think about what I wanted to do with my kit and I boxed up only yesterday all the stuff that has sat unused for the last 12 months and have traded it in for something that I think I may hopefully get more use from and there is a little left over in the pot I may treat myself to some vintage glass that some of you keep going on about and have a play around with that as well. Simon....... I must admit all of the above is dependent on the wife not coming up with a list of jobs to be done around the house...........good job I started with bringing flowers home yesterday.
  12. That time of the week again and me to choose this weeks winner. Its been another fine week for Bugs & Birds with some fine late entries in the last 24 hours... Rye continues on his bug hunt and a nod to 2 fine pictures, one the Nuthatches and second the little mouse both great shots and a wonderful falcon shot from johntwo and his enjoyable little what is it challenge shots this week (i did like the pepper grinder). But this week I kept coming back to this image of a fantastic landscape and therefore award the honor of POTW to Stravinsky for this wonderful shot taken at Lake Hawea, New Zealand.......reminding us of the places we love to visit and hopefully we can get back too one day soon.
  13. New from Cam.....a great song with a nice creative old school video.
  14. This weeks discovery Hannah White & The Nordic Connections............... in Concert in Sheffield 30th July.............one can hope.
  15. It's scary how old it is. We actually won some tickets to see a preview showing and its probably the last film I saw in a cinema. I keep meaning to dig out the DVD to watch it again. I did have the pleasure to meet Vinnie when he played for the team across the city in red and white (can't bring myself to type it) while I was working. He was built like a tank and very intimidating but really a pleasant bloke and had a good chat about what I was doing and my job and obviously football rivalry.
  16. I don't normally recycle images from my online camera club life but I was quite pleased with this. It's not very original as I did pinch the idea but put my twist on it........this months theme was Movies (obviously) I came a disappointing 3rd......I'm such a bad loser.
  17. Cheers Rye Its been just manic at work, I have been doing 2/3 different jobs including my own .........10/12 hour days some days, I get home and pretty much just fall asleep. I ache in places I didn't think was possible too. Hopefully as of next week we are fetching a couple more staff back so I can just do my own job......which means I can skive a bit more.
  18. I was going to put this in the in focus challenge but the bluebell shot was an old shot the rest were all taken on Monday. So waste not........ here it is.......Hopefully next week I might get a bit more time back for myself so I may post one picture every week.....or not.
  19. My choice for POTW this week and as we continue on in these crazy times the creativeness keeps growing and growing. Another wonderful week of your lives in lock down have seen again many bird shots from the gardens, shots from your daily exercise walks, FUJI continues to impress on his daily macro journeys with his DIY lens. BP again giving Warburtons a run for there money with his bread making skills and vanguard with his oil abstracts.........which when I went to my bed last night was probably going to be the winner. But he at the last moment has over taken his own picture with a wonderful mono still life with wonderful creative lighting to claim this weeks POTW. Congratulations vanguard...................A Lifetime in Quarantine is my POTW.
  20. A double from me because of yesterdays early morning site problems. A lockdown edition...... one re released for now Carrie Underwood - Drinking Alone the second by Luke Combs written for the current times we live in lyrics are brilliant.

I'm Sorry.............but its Sunday......it's good to be silly on a Sunday. I will do the other half tomorrow...................something to look forward too.
  23. I'm sharing the live version of this song as its about the only thing I'm really missing during this crazy time is live music....and as much as I'm enjoying the stuff on social media its not the same. This song was banned from radio airplay due to the title of the song..... It was explained to the PC brigade that a girl crush is a non-sexual, non romantic admiration that one woman has for another.... The ban actually made it a massive hit.
