A mate texted tonight as I was driving home asking if I wanted to go out and photograph a filed of poppies - turned out nice

Beautiful sight. What do they do with so many poppies?

So today I thought I'd have a drive out to Knaresborough, what I didn't know was that A59 was closed at Blubberhouses, which meant diverting through Ilkley and Otley, but also Knaresborough roads where closed due to the Annual bed race... So it actually took 2 1/2 hours to get there..... So I went to Spofforth to visit the castle.

Alas not very impressive, as like many English castle it was slighted (partially or wholly demolished after the War of the Roses) to prevent it's defences from being used again.

Knaresborough Castle - alas also slighted and not that impressive...

They do grow then in Australia as a medicinal crop, and I do know Poppy seeds can be dormant for anything up to 90 or so years in fields here in the UK. I think BP is on to something as a Farmer friend told me once his worst crop nightmare is prolific poppies in his Oil Seed Rape crop.
