Solar Eclipse from the Malvern Hills.

Nice set - well done. How did you know when it was safe to remove the filters and then have to replace them?

Guess work Chris!  When I could look at the eclipse with my eyes half closed... ie squinting and there was at that time some cloud cover due to the huge drop in temperature I took a chance and it paid off. As soon as the cloud started to disappear and I could no longer squint I put the filter back on... just purely guesswork really.

cracking set John - and they was something like I hoped to achieve well done

Colin.. I'm quite chuffed to be honest, I've never tried this before and my homemade filter worked like a dream... :yes

Brilliant set John  .... no wonder you are chuffed ... I would be cheering if they'd been mine ! :animier:

I was not exactly feeling in top form yesterday and if it had been something I could put off for another day I would have done so, as the next solar eclipse of similar magnitude is on the 12th August 2026 (13 days before my 80th birthday... if I'm not history by then!) I thought I'd better make the effort and pull myself together and go for it. When I saw the results of my effort I was glad I did it.
