Vine weevils are a devastating plant pest. Suddenly otherwise healthy-looking plants wilt and collapse and no amount of watering will help them recover. The reason? Vine weevil grubs have eaten all the roots!

Well it looks just like our vine weevils and they absolutely can devastate plants that they use to feed on and as nurseries for their eggs underground .. I I have lost 30 year old rhododendrons that are 7 foot high   through these pests and  they take a lot of getting rid of ... As Paul says ... the grubs  just eat away the entire root system over a few days when they hatch from the eggs and  of course  the shrub  just  keels over and dies ! The adults just nibble a few leaves.... but the youngsters kill the  host !

That's interesting. I don't know if they are so devastating here. I'll find out.
