  1. A few more iconic images. Don't think I've posted these before.
  2. That's a beautiful capture, John and quite common here in the Midlands. I often watch them in flocks feeding in the fields as well as edge of lakes. The thing that I really like about these birds is the mascara effect round their eyes.
  3. I have no idea what this spider is, but she didn't back off from protecting her nest. And this fly was so interested in filling his face with pollen, he didn't give a toss for having a camera stuck in his face.
  4. Fogey

    Oaks

No 2 puts me in mind of the trees in The Lord of the Rings. Lovely set.
  5. A nice set, but it's the first one for me.
  6. How do you get the damned things to pose like that?
  7. It's the subtlety of colour that has taken my eye, Polly. Very cleverly done.
  8. There are times Polly when the pool is devoid of birds. However, on the good days it can be extremely busy. If you are going to come, then I would say a long lens is essential, together with a decent bean bag or a tripod. There have been sightings of Osprey, Curlews, Snipes, Green and Redshanks, Grebes, Cormorants, any amount of Lapwings, geese and waterfowl. A pair of binoculars, for when you're not photographing, is nice as well.
  9. Some recent shots from the Venus Pool...
  10. Now why did I think he was a milkman?
  11. Cormorant Stretching Sleeping Snoring.
  12. Within the moody and majestic life goes on - mundanely.
  13. I love the composition of the basin.
  14. Excellent Denis. There's not one I don't like.
  15. Nice set David. Brings back some memories.
  16. From majestic........... To the mundane.
  17. There is nothing as beautiful as a tree.
  18. Thank you all. Yes Paul, it was very remote. There were some middle-aged ladies swimming in the harbour while I was there - much braver than me. I couldn't get over just how quickly the weather and lighting changed. Once the sun heated up the atmosphere, in came the fog. These two shots were taken within the same hour.
  19. Staxigoe cove early morning and then...........
  20. Surprising what makes a photograph.
  21. Great action shots, Leon. The first is my favourite.
