  1. Probably needs a tad more contrast but I think that I prefer the colour version. Unusual for me.
  2. Nice capture Rye. I was at Sunderland Point yesterday. Usually quite deserted but like Blackpool prom for a while (relatively speaking). The day before, the Trough of Bowland was liberally sprinkled with camper vans.
  3. Like those, the second one in particular. It's very contemporary, almost an abstract pattern picture.
  4. I have two outlets near me here, both will mail order but they 're within a 15-20min car ride. They used to compete on price but one of them complained to Fuji and Fuji put a stop to that. They now rely on special offers e.g. throwing in a spare memory card or even a short period of enhanced part ex (apparently??). They are both selling the the 70-200 at the same price as Cambrian (Retail Price Maintenance!) but although they have had the odd one or two copies of the new lens and satisfied back orders, they don't currently have a quantity delivery date.
  5. Thanks Polly. Yes, I bought it last year just before the virus struck but it stayed unused for about six months due to the lockdown(s). I justified it on the basis that unlike the X-T3 that I had, the in body image stabilisation would provide some benefit to the unstabilised 16-55mm that I had my eye on (eventually) and to a couple of legacy manual lenses, a very sharp Tokina macro in particular. In the end, I haven't gone ahead with the 16-55mm because in nearly all situations the 18-55mm so called kit lens performs so well. Instead, I'm waiting for the new 70-300mm to become available because the 100-400mm is a bit too heavy to carry except for dedicated outings for wild life etc. No sign of availability locally yet though.
  6. Horrible day today but I ventured out anyway.
  7. Same here so far as slugs are concerned. The veg patch has been let off lightly this year.. Kept the beer bill down as well.
  8. I was born in Leeds but not bred there(Army brat). This is a place I have always wanted to visit. More so now - as long as the gent in the final image keeps his distance.
  9. We have had them but when thy swarmed, there were very few compared to previous years. Grateful for that but in a way it is worrying. Just another sign of the general decline in the insect population around here.
  10. Nice series Rye. Driven past there many a time but never seen anything in steam.
  11. Like the first one in particular David.
  12. Thanks all for commenting.
  13. Thanks John. I knew it was coming but didn't know that it was quite so immanent and hadn't clocked the lawn mower issue. Rye, the pre payment requirement apparently has been introduced as a result of a growth in crime. Apparently, there has been a surge in people using false number plates to fill up and then drive away, They are very careful to clone plates from the same make and colour of car. The plate are then rapidly changed back to the legal plates a short distance from the filling station. The info comes from my brother in law who suddenly found himself entertaining a visit from the police because his plates had been used. An aspect of going electric that has been exercising my thoughts recently is that at present, the Exchequer relies heavily on fuel tax for income. When we have all gone electric, how are they going to recover the deficit? The carbon foot print may well be lower but I suspect that the hyped cost benefits of electric are going to be less than some are currently making out.
  14. Nice one as always Polly. Another card?
  15. Taken last September and was about the only dedicated photographic outing I've managed in about 18 months. About once a year, there is a steam special that returns from Carlisle via the west coast line (via Workington, Whitehaven, Ravenglass etc.) and I have planned to catch it several times but something always got in the way. This was captured in Harrington. The birds were a bonus not noticed at the time. X-T4 55-20mm.
  16. Missed these. Nice set. Like the last two in particular.
  17. Thanks for the comments both of you. It was like that. Taken from the roadside whilst chasing Pheasant.
  18. I'm so full of envy, I can't find the words to comment on your images. Glad you loved it.

    Blackstone Edge

By 5-6 pm, the heat has sapped any energy I might have. I keep thinking that there must be some impressive sunsets around at the moment, then I close my eyes again. At least you got some texture in the sky khm. Bland blue skies do nothing for a landscape.
  20. Nice set but the last one is a stand out.
  21. Nice set Rye. Where did you catch them. Reminds me, caught some Black Headed gulls dipping for the first time on the Lune just past Condor Green. I must get around to processing them.
  22. That's gorgeous. Looks like a youngster.
