Well firstly im going to use this to say i hope everyone has had a really nice new year

clearly the time off over christmas has been very productive for some of you and we have had loads of really lovely images this week. Why do you lot always make this so difficult for me ? lol

ive finally whittled it down to three and im going to give them 1st 2nd and 3rd place as they are so difficult to choose between.

third place for me was Korkys Sunday morning edit, i loved the textures and the way Korky managed to make a piece of stone seem to be brimming with emotion and sadness.

Second place for me was Martyns final resting place ( 2nd image on the thread ) i loved the way Martyn caught the light and the atmosphere of the image. Also such an unusual subject matter send me scurrying off to research them more.

1st place for me though had to go this image from  Martyns  New years Day Morecambe thread.  The subject matter is one of my favourites, the light is beautifu, i love the blues hues with the sudden shock of red in the picture and the way you seem to fall into the image and your gaze goes off into the distance forever.

so congratulations Martyn and very well done :)

Well what can I say, my gast has been well and truly flabbered! Thank you Heather for your choice, and thank you all for your kind comments. When I saw Bill Allsopp's new year picture of the boats moored along a jetty at dawn I thought that would be a winner.  I felt inspired to try to capture something of the same feel, albeit at sunset.

Gosh, I think this calls for a large single malt!     :yes
