For me photography is all about capturing the moment - to coin a phrase - and so I'm finding more and more these days it is less about the technical merit of a shot that grabs me and more the content or feel.

Don't get me wrong if a shot is badly taken I'll skip over it without a second glance and I do like a carefully crafted image full of rich detail and perfect tones - I have few on my wall - but its shots of the day to day life, a moment grabbed and that chance image that does it for me.

I'm glad to say we get all the best on here, the amazing wildlife captures from members who spend hours honing their technique, members who take great care, time and planning to get that perfect shot and those who just think "That'll look canny"

It is the latter that caught my attention this week.

A series of shots taken with a mobile phone, something that 'real' photographers would poo-poo. Something they would argue can't possibly be used for serious photography because you can't change the lens, set exposures, it doesn't have a huge sensor will gazillions of pixels, its just something used for social media.......cobblers!

The best camera is the one you have with you. If the one you have with you is a phone then make the most of it, work with it and above all else be creative with it.

Korky did this in his From Sunday's Walk post and this one is my choice for POTW:

Great shot - and great processing too. And you're so right BP, it matters not what a picture is taken on, even an old 126 Instamatic (in the right hands) could produce a stunning shot.

Well done Korky, that's a korker :)

for me it is not that this was taken on a phone that makes it my potw week but the composition. The 3/4 angle and the positioning within the frame (not slapping it central) is a classic as the Landrover and like the landy works well 95% of the time - excellent

Here I am - bright and breezy. Sorry I'm late, but matron doesn't undo the straps till eight fifteen.

BP - Thank you so much, it's great to get a pat on the back from someone whose opinions and work I respect.

I appreciate that my style of photography is a bit rough and ready, a bit cheap and cheerful and a bit lacking in the technical department, but therein lies its charm - some see it, some most certainly do not.
