The 52 Project 2017 --- Now Cookin' on Gas!

The 52 Project 2017 is due to kick off on Tuesday 31st January and so, for the benefit of new TIPFers, here is some information in Q&A format.

Q - What's the 52 Project?

A - It's a challenge to take, process and post a new photograph each week for a year.

Q - Who's it for?

A - Everyone.

Q - How's it work?

A - I'll open a new thread every Tuesday morning and then you have till close of play the following Monday to take, process and post your image.

Q - Any subject, any camera, any processing?

A - Pretty much. There'll be a theme every fourth week, but it won't be anything too esoteric.

Q - Can I make comment on other members' photos?

A - Comments, 'likes' and friendly banter are all encouraged. 

Q - What if I don't have a camera.

A - Now, that might be a problem!

If you're new to TIPF and you'd like to join us on our 2017 challenge, you're very welcome. Just wait for the thread to open on 31st January and Bob is indeed your father's brother.

And....... If you have questions, comments or suggestions in the meantime, stick 'em in this thread.

Can you just confirm Korks that the image has to have been taken in a particular time  frame . I've struggled a bit with when the image should have been taken ... Is it between the Tuesday ( eg 10 June )and Monday (eg 16 June )of the week in which one posts it ... Or in the previous week (up  to Tuesday when we start to post it  eg Tues  3 June - Mon 9 June.  Sorry  if I am being a bit obtuse...

Due to my personal circumstances I've occasionally played very slightly fast and loose with this, with an image from the week prior to the current one. The KMeister has been very good about this and kept any dark mutterings behind where a beard should be...

So ... What is the current week? .... The week in which we post or the week prior to when start to post ... I just want to know if the pic has to have been taken in the week before the Tuesday that we can start to post ... ... I quietly am losing the will to live ... Lol

I always took the week to start on the Monday of the challenge and finish on the Sunday of the week of the challenge. So Monday 16th Jan to Sun 22nd Jan to take the photo and Tue 17th Jan, when Korkys starts the thread to Mon 23rd Jan to post it in the thread....

I open the thread on a Tuesday morning and then the photograph should be taken, processed and posted before close of play the following Monday.

The first thread will open on Tues 31st Jan and then you have until the end of Mon 6th Feb to do the business. Then we do it again.

If that's confusing, I'm not sure how I simplify it.

I can't remember how we arrived at Tuesday/Monday, but those days can be changed if you wish. I can easily start the thread on Monday morning and close it the following Sunday if that makes things simpler. Those days are more 'weekly' if you see what I mean.

The challenge is to take, process and post a photograph every week for a year - I think if we start bending the 'rules' all we do is dilute the challenge and it just isn't much of a challenge any more.

That's how I read it in the original 52 project too Rye  then it seemed to change when it moved to a Tuesday .. However that has now made it clear Korks . The taking and posting of the image will be from every Tuesday to the following Monday . I am happy with those days as the other weekly competition and  POTW culminate  and start  on the Friday, Saturday Sunday  and Monday. Thanks for clearing that up Korks  . Look forward to keeping up with the challenge every week for 2017

Re the monthly themes...... Do you want them set now and fixed? Or do we take it a month at a time?

If you'd like to make theme suggestions, just stick 'em below. Nothing too specialist..... eg macro, motor-sport, aircraft. Make 'em nice and easy to achieve for everyone involved.

I've got the first subject in mind, so we'll need eleven more.
