I think you should take your walks where the town is unusually empty and   catalogue the views from a certain spot and then go back later in the year and take the  same pic .... could be an interesting exercise ...and unlikely to get empty streets midday again after this all ends ...

It’s great to see the fine architecture like the market hall without all the people.

Thanks Cheryl.

Sometimes..well... most of the time I try to get photos with no one in them, in all four images you have posted there is only one that I can see.

I now think that is incredibly sad.

In the first image there are actually 3 people, I had to check the full size version to find out....

I would expect to see scenes like this on Christmas morning, new years day or very early on Sunday mornings. Even the pigeons seem to have deserted the town centre at the moment. I imagine Wakes Weeks were very similar, I'm too young to really remember them.... For those that have never heard of Wakes Weeks before, it was when all the mills, shops, basically everything closed down and literally the whole town would head off to Blackpool, this would happen every year up until the late 50's or early 60's or before Sunday trading.

Thanks Stravinsky, it's rather eerie, almost like I'd stumbled onto an abandoned town. I did also take some of Blackburn as well as my local bank had closed temporarily and wasn't accepting cash deposits, it was just as deserted....
