You wouldn't know they were both the same picture... two really nice shots.
I do like the original picture best of the two, there is lots going off in the foreground for the viewer, the abandoned bike, the chap on the bench, the couple walking away then a lovely sweeping view around the sea front to the war memorial. Very nice.
That is also my go too parking spot when ever we have visited.

Those were my thoughts too after I'd edited the original Simon...   Like you, I am sometimes tempted to edit out some people  but   they do have a role to play most of the time .. ..and I liked the Bike, the people sat on the bench and the strollers ... I even liked the parked cars though I might have objected if any of them had been red !!;)

I love the original and I love the crop, too. That sky really is superb.

I'm never brave enough to try big crops like this, I always think that my kit and lenses aren't really up to it. But then again, I'm one of those clever buggers who composes every shot perfectly in camera. That's my story and I'm sticking to it.

And just for a bit of fun .... a third edit ...though I found the lighting challenging  and got fed up in the end when i realised some of the windows would also have shown lights on inside ....!!

PS There was a street lamp missing too ...3rd one along ....doh

 FUN ?

Yeah You're right ...I  think Matron only allows that when  there is a "W" in the month and a day with an "P" in it !

So ... i'll make do with just a 3rd crop from the original  photo ...;)Phew ...got me money's worth out of that pic didn't I?

Thanks for the feedback Cheryl... I really had a lot of fun with this one photo getting 4 edits out of it with 3 different crops ..I'm still hoping to  do something  like a workshop   thread to give people a chance to edit a set photo  in any way that they want  and discuss what, why and how  they suggest the photo can be edited . I might just try posting  a photo myself and ask  anyone to post their edit  saying what they did and take it from there ...You lot are so talented  I'm sure we could all learn more from each other .. The main  thing is   to find a joy  in creating an image that pleases you and makes you feel something ...

I think it’s a good idea, Polly. I’ll be involved.
