It finally rained and the herons were out feeding on the insects flushed out of the dry plains

That's a nice capture CM, with the bird looking into the frame like that.  Might be worth burning in (or even cropping) the bright area top right.  Never seen a white Necked Heron before.  It's a nice bird.

That really is an excellent image, it has a superb fine art quality about it that's just up my street. Great work!

I tend to agree with John re the top right corner - cropping out that bright area would make  for a far stronger image.

Thanks for the positive comments and advice about the light in the RH corner. I changed it and it looks better.

I agree ...the edit  makes a difference  ..  The  oof background is fabulous  giving  great isolation to the subject ..
