You are aware I think, that I too am a local historian with similar interests,,except my little bit of WWII is annalmost complete Heavy Anti-Aircraft Site....I give regular presentations there in memory of the ...Mixed Batteries.....the young ATS Girls and specially chosen older or slightly unfit men who manned the guns and technical equipment with great success. I have been absent from TIPF a little, lately too....My Autobiography is in the Printers after 15 years of writing it in dibs and dabs.....and....last weekend saw me take over a 100 photographs of a local 16th century house ...I’m processing these currently. I still use a veritable ancient copy of CS6 from a legally purchased disc ........likewise my copy of Efex is almost as old...I’m not sure for how much longer they will be viable. I have never paid ADOBE subscriptions and never will..... This is why I recently purchased and am learning to use , bang up-to-date apps on my iPad-pro..... I can download then process almost any RAW file....using jointly....PIXELMATOR PHOTO. .... and...PIXELMATOR.....they have layers, brushes....healing tools and much more....the relearning, for me, is proving the hardest part, but I am getting there. Here is a sample, worked on just the other day... Original Photo....then...my mono take, in the...Film-Noir.....style.......as you can see, the apps work beautifully....all of my chosen effects can be targeted to specific areas,,at levels chosen. They could be ok....but, read the listing very carefully....many are fully manual, having no auto focus....I have a couple...they work well.....the other solution is to see if Youtube has a video or two featuring them. FUJI

My advice ....is to take Bp’s advice...... I have two SIGMA ART lenses.....beautiful things that help get the job done creatively. Not to dismiss any of the others though..... My other advice is to look at the second hand market....Ffordes of Scotland usually have a good range of guaranteed stock....I can recommend them.....they sold all my Sony gear at a good return....and my Leica owning pal always gets his lenses through them. FUJI
