Playing With A 10 Stop

Nice results

I also have one of those ebay cheapies but not tried it yet.

How do you do the exposure, meter without it and apply the correction factor or just meter through it and got with the cameras recommended setting.

The camera made all the decisions for these. Aperture priority (f/11), ISO 200, auto shutter. Most came out at the 10 - 15 second mark.

Number 1 really is the pick for me - lovely!

For me it has a calmness and a serenity about it (no, I've not been taking anything) and (it's VERY seldom I say this) I could live with that on the wall of the billiard room.

Top stuff!

Might have to have a dabble as thats a good price and even if not perfect it has to be better than my welding glass.

I have  a  brother in law ....a retired welder who does that too BP ... I was amazed at his results  though .

OK, so it arrived this morning and I managed a brisk walk to the lock at sunset to see what I thought of Phil's 10 stop ND filter from ebay.

I only managed to get a couple of shots off as I really have never done a long exposure or ever used an ND, let alone one so...drastic!

I'm sort of taken by its effects but found it very difficult to aim due to seeing nothing through the viewfinder. no live view on the now ancient D3000.

I found that over exposing by a stop or so helps as these filters tend to be slightly under (on my camera anyway), but I love the effect they have on water and clouds :)
