That's not much better than dial-up... your ISP should be paying you.. :yes

Thought I'd try again before bed, I expected it to improve  :turned:

Frustrating thing is, if I go 50 yards down the road I get 18MB download and 6MB upload on my phone, no ruddy signal at home! I use my phone at work to tether the lappy and use around 30GB a month (it's unlimited), if I could do it at home I could tell BT where to stick their broadband. :)

I hardly ever use my landline phone, I never make calls I only answer it if it rings. I would love to drop it but I can't as I need my broadband slow or not, mobile broadband is useless where I live so no chance of changing anything at the moment. It's not right I/we all have to pay for a landline phone I/we don't want just to get broadband.

I have to agree with you on that one, our landline doesn't get used at all. It's pretty much the same with the mobile, the introduction of WhatsApp, Viber, iMessage etc. means all my calls and texts are internet based, I don't use any of monthly standard allowance.

That's one point of view. Here's another: I use my landline rather than my mobile, as I'm stuck at home most of the time. I get free calls pretty much (do you, on your mobile???) and my only resentment is the rip-off charges for phoning mobiles on it. If I need a tradesman or woman, and they infuriatingly only leave a mobile number, I'll call them and ask them to give me their landline number and "I'll call you this evening". If they don't have a landline, I won't use their services.

Long live the landline.

All you people showing off your superfast optical fibre broadband speeds ... well, the ultimate test is how smoothly does iPlayer stream video when you're watching catch-up TV? I can tell you that my pathetic 3mbps streams TV without a hiccup, no stuttery video or audio. What really is the use of speed way faster than any application can use?

Yes, but can you download Peruvian porn, Skype your chums in Chattanooga, watch a YouTube docusoap, catch up on Jeremy Kyle, upload to Pirate Bay and keep an eye on the 2.45 from Doncaster? All at the same time. I can!

Should I ever want to.
