Great exposure to keep the misty look but retain detail and atmosphere. I agree with Paul on the crop. Not only makes the lead in line stronger but brings the gate out a bit more. Although I agree in retrospect with Paul's suggestion, I have to admit I would not have thought about it if he hadn't mentioned it. Another technique to store in the brain box.

Cracking atmospheric shot. Is there a Sussex version, or is that the Exmoor DPB?

Hi Chris, Thanks for your feedback. This is in Sussex, on the A3, in fact up until a couple of years ago the A3 London to Portsmouth road went through it, and now there is a tunnel underneath it, This picture is the origenal road which was a nightmare as at this point the duel carriage way became a single road through Hindhead and it was nothing to sit for up to 20-30 minuets getting through. Now the National Trust are reinstating it to its formal natural beauty.

Was the suggested crop  not the left hand trees

Depends where the main path starts I suppose Top or bottom

I think the left hand side leaving the upright dark tree to give, as suggested, a better lead in

But I may also have read the suggestion wrong

Nice shot Geoff. I actually like the original. I think it is full of mystery. The light on the path and the bottom left of the frame is nice. The gate in the mist is wonderful. The trees certainly add to the atmosphere. The fact that the view is restricted by the mist really keeps my eyes in this magical world. It could do with maybe a little more brightness for my eyes. I like it.

I always enjoy seeing your work Geoff. Another good one. :)
