Into the Valley

On the way home from a family thing on Saturday, the rearview mirror compelled me to stop! Just at the border between County Durham looking back into Cumbria, I've had every single vehicle I ever owned in the air on this piece of road.  15 minutes from my Grandmother's house :-)

They're both the A689 into Cumbria, the roll down to Nenthead, at the end of a day throwing stones in the river and playing with the kids and neice and nephews, in the same places me and my cousins used to play as kids.  Good day all round :-)

love it, I found a road that reminds me of that on the way to Kielder last year....

Kielder is away off to the right :-)  As I put my stuff in the boot a pair of Mk 2 escorts came up from Nenthead, full on snarly rally beasts - so I missed getting them!

there was a big rally in northumberland last weekend.... Kielder Rally is on 3rd and 4th May

Aye, not a bother.  I'll not make Kielder this year - I have 2 weddings to attend that weekend :-(

Thanks everyone, I have to say it was a spur of the moment shot and I'm really pleased with it - the vanishing point of the road is a crest, the road drops away at about 40% :-)
