  1. I've been working in the office 3/4 days a week all the way through, and working from home the other days, apparently I have time to decorate, sort the garden and home school my 15 year old while i'm working from home. I'm knackered!!
  2. I.m going to give a bit of sports photography a try (geddit)at my son's rugby matches on Sunday, and am just wondering if anyone has any thoughts? I'll be using my 7d and have to choose between my tamron 70-300 f3.5 and my L series 24-105. I'm thinking the 24-105 because I'm going to have to crop anyway and the lens is so much sharper. Any tips and/or advice welcome The Tamron has never given me an image that I feel is sharp, and I suspect I may need to try and match it to the body, so any tips on that would be nice too - its my plan for tomorrow
  3. Excitement abounds. Soon be Monday.
  4. An old one of Tommy, a statue to commemorate the end of the great war, situated at Seaham on the Durham coast It seems I don't have a photo of "the rusty fairy", so that will need to be a trip out

    POTW w/e 4 Feb 2018

I'd also missed this, well done, the best of a great set IMO
  6. I used to play in these woods as a kid, they're a small lake now
  7. I've never felt anything but welcome on here, something that can't be said for a fair few online enterprises. I never felt I had a lot to say, as there is always someone with more experience, and anything I might say has generally been said. I just sort of drifted away when I stopped going out with the big camera. Then 2 days after I made a conscious decision to get out and take some photos again I got the email, so it's probably best I start wandering through again! I've bought a new camera battery (mine has gone missing since the camera was put away) and it's charging, so I may grace you all with some poorly shot photos soon :-)
  8. Keep trying. I stopped for 7 years, never lost the craving though, had the year from hell and started again, turned to vaping me I'm off the tobacco (hate the taste now). I'm making my own juice for it now, and I alternate between no nicotine and 1% (bought juices are 6, 12, 18 or 24%). Only really do it when im bored at work so im getting there. Good luck, it's not impossible
  9. Longtime since I've been on here, but here's my younger, caught off guard. Phone pic, not a portrait person but I quite like it
  10. My better half had one that burst - I'd never heard of it before that - Excruciating pain, or she likes to see me do everything ;-)
  11. Old topic, but my computer is less than reasonable! Diagnosed manic depressive (lets get that out of the way!) Worked in a lot of factories so the missus could get the qualifications for what she wanted to do My camera is my escape Had a job I loved, swapped it for one I tolerate for my children to know their grandparents Restore "classic" cars with a couple of friends Am a tad volatile Defend my friends to the end of the earth Love to be out in the wild Hate crowded places Love the coast, but find it intimidating
  12. Thanks everyone, I was thinking the static team shots, but wasn't terribly clear :-) Shall be trying some action shots too so that helps too. Not used to moving stuff, landscapes tend to stand and wait for me :-)
  13. I have been volunteered to take some shots of my youngests football team to give to sponsors etc, and to be frank, I've no clue :-) It'll be outdoors (on the pitch),I have a canon 7dd, a 50mm 1.8, a tamron 70-300 f5.6 and a 24-105 l series. Thinking 50mm, have got an off camera flash, but never used it. Anyone got any advice? I'm thinking "don't turn up" :-)
  14. Great fan of the Lee Childs Reacher books - no thinking required really! Currently reading the Honour Harrington books on the kindle (Sci-Fi series from Baen Books) and in book form I'm re-reading Grotesque, by Natsuo Kirino

    Softbox Tent

Not long got a softbox, but never had a proper play with it - shall need to get some lights and have a go as my brother makes bespoke jewellery and keeps mentioning product images :-)

    Loss of Mojo

Well, I have a serious loss of Mojo at present, sold loads of camera stuff and generally threw toys out of the pram, finally got a working computer (so far!), settled medication(!) and starting to get the feeling I'd like to restart with the camera, which is nice. Hoping to start interacting with the planet again, really glad you're still here :-). Hopefully have some images to show shortly.
  17. Its my lappy, not the site :-)
  18. There's always more to learn, enjoy, ask questions, and welcome - some really good advice to be had here, and plenty of courses in the area if thats your thing
  19. Welcome in, loads of good advice available here, one day I'll have a computer thats capable of uploading an image, until then I look forward to seeing yours! :-)
  20. Welcome, enjoy. Look forward to seeing your photos
  21. Hello and welcome - I live in a world of busted computers and no inspiration, but I still look! Enjoy, loads of helpful people here :-)
  22. Being a passport officer, the guidance is no home done photos, but in practice as long as the pic quality is OK then they generally get accepted.make sure the paper isn't too flimsy, that tends to give poor scans. There is a fair amount of leeway given on babies pictures, but its always possible the examiner who gets it is a jobsworth ;-)
