A load of Bull

Recommended Posts

That  bull was quite amazing I thought... I wasn't quite sure  what it had to do with the women  hauling chains  ..It all seemed symbolic  and some of it went way over my head  but the Bull was certainly a spectacle and I am pleased it is on show in the city now .  Love that second pic especially ......  It was really huge wasn't it ....  something that is difficult to convey with  just a head shot  but somehow you have managed that with the angle and it filling the frame  despite having nothing in there to compare it in. perspective ... Well composed  and an effective  capture Sir !!

Thanks, the whole thing was supposed to illustrate Birminghams grimy industrial past.  Chain making was a big thing back in the day, and of course the bulls tail is a chain and anchor ... and I believe an anchor for the Titanic was made in the West Midlands

I agree  Colin  however I think the actual Bull will be an iconic  piece of Art for the City ... at 30 feet high yer  can't miss it  really . Apparently  it was  going to be dismantled after the Games  but a 10,000 strong petition  by Brummies has made the local Council  decide to give it a permanent indoor home ...it seems it's mostly made of  foam and won't withstand   our  winter weather  !!

Its actually mostly steel, scrap metal.  But there are parts of it that are sprayed foam, and theres a lot of electronics within as well as a 20ton truck.  Although they were going to dismantle it on 10 August its now had a stay of execution and will stay where it is until September.  Its drawing huge crowds.  They are now discussing a possible indoor area for it to be displayed, although to be honest its so big I think they might struggle

The first one for me, though both are good! The first one captures the spirit of the bull.😀

Have you tried them in monochrome? Propably wouldn't have the same impact though.

No I haven't, although I have seen some shots of them in monochrome and they were quite good
