It looks like it's in a clay  pot  ...certainly not in soil ...lol  ..  super  capture  Cheryl ... Is that sunlight he's basking in ? 

 I have no idea how big or small this creature is but regardless .... I wouldn't be brave enough to be that close to something  that could  jump  unexpectedly at  me... so Brownie  points for that too !

Thank you for your comments, as always, Polly. I dug it up in my veggie garden and put it in a bucket to photograph as it wouldn’t don’t pose willingly. And yes, you’re right, the light was from the setting sun.

These frogs are quite large, say 2.5 to 3 inches long and quite fat. Not scary though 😉.
