Hi People ......

Recommended Posts

Hello everyone. just a short note to introduce myself.

I'm David, 71 years old and live in North Wales - returned to photography after well over 60 odd years.

My earliest memories are helping my dad load film into a developer tank whilst sitting cramped under the stairs 🤣🤣

Dad bought me a box camera to start with, then later one which had bellows... Happy days.

I still have hundreds of old BW negatives from those days, but sadly no way of seeing exactly what they are.

Over the years like most people I've taken the usual holiday snaps, but thought now is the time to give it another try.

So I found on xxbay a brand new unused Canon 500D and a very little used Sigma 18:200 lens. Not really sure just why I bought these, other than I like the 'feel' of the Canon.

Now looking at beginners courses to ramp up my knowledge ...

Stay safe everyone ...

David

And a great big welcome to the friendliest camera club on the interweb !

(it is actually a forum, but I like to think of it as a camera club meeting virtually almost every day here online)

We will be extremely pleased to see the results of your foray into the digital world when you get up and running, in the meantime there are plenty of people with real talent and experience who can help you on your way, just shout if you need help with anything (just dont ask me...I'm clueless and probably beyond help :) )

Welcome to the Forum DavidJ....it’s really great to see someone from an area  that has a lot of special memories for me as I went to Boarding school in Merionethshire .... a place I still go back to visit. You’ll find a really lovely bunch of people on here who enjoy daft banter as well as offering serious help  and advice if requested.. We are not a huge community where you can feel lost or invisible but a group of people with  an innate love of the art of photography who genuinely enjoy learning from each other and sharing experiences that enhances our knowledge of how to get the best image that we can ....If you need any help navigating around the Forum.... just yell...  and one of us will respond ...  Regarding  your collection of old Negatives ....  I’m sure we can  try and find  a way to help you retrieve them ... look forward to you joining in ... and posting comments and pictures when you feel ready.. 👍🏻

ps Denis is being modest 😉
