Zebra Finches

I expected them to be black and white, but they're quite colourful. I didn't know they were also kept as pets....

I guess the zebra in their name comes from the black and white markings on their sides: more like spots than stripes so could be wrong. What do you mean they’re kept as pets, Rye?

Apparently they've been kept as captive birds/pets for about 100  years because they breed quite readily in captivity, are easy to care for and don't need a lot of time commitment. I only found out when I did a search about them.

Thanks, I didn’t know that either.

As for the photo, this is a great composition, each bird is doing its own thing, again POTW material IMHO !

Thank you, Denis. I’m glad you like the composition: I liked it but wasn’t sure if anyone else would.

That’s a memorable  image Cheryl ...    I like that ....a bit like seeing people in  a  queue at a bus stop ..all socially distancing too .

I really like the reef knot detail in the rusty wire bottom left .. really makes the picture pop for me ... along with the arid coloured  background .

Thank you Polly. I didn’t think about what sort of knot it was but, you’re right, it is a reef knot! probably a very old fence .........by Australian standards. ?
