New Lens Day

Recommended Posts

Hi, both.... yes...new, or, vintage lenses can give real pleasure...

Any old lens can be made into a tilt-shift one.... have a few bevies too many then go out with your camera.... walking, of course.

Be interesting to see the results Martyn. I'm looking at a new lens purchase in the near future, I find there occasions when my Canon 24-105mm f4 L is a little bit too short but my Sigma 150-600mm is too much, so I've been looking at a Canon EF 28-300 mm F/3.5-5.6 L IS USM

Looks like  you've hit the  ground running Martyn .... I'm excited for your new found energy regarding your photography ... Even in lockdown there  is nothing to stop you  using your camera when  doing  your  daily walk/exercise  ... like Fooj and Rye are doing and combining the two .  Oh and Leon is too ...with some spectacular Kingfisher shots  as a great bonus ... I shall watch this space  ( or one similar ) to see  your results ...

A fisheye lens is something that needs to be used sparingly and in moderation, or else it soon becomes clichéd and boring. Up to now it's not been off my camera!  This is a selfie of me in my play pen with some of my toys.   Good composition would normal put me on the third, but facial distortion makes me look strange (keep your comments to yourself ?)  The right hand side of the picture has a 3 stop graduated exposure applied in Darktable to bring down the blown out highlights and it also makes the garden visible.  The area of my desk is quite dark, but I'm happy that I managed to get it all exposed reasonably ok. I'm impressed with the overall quality of this lens. Before I resized this image it was possible to zoom in enough to read my notes in the diary on the bottom left.
