A sad day

I’m not feeling my usual chipper self this morning, because TINKE our 23 year old cat deteriorated rapidly last night, to the point where she appears to have gone almost totally blind as well as deaf, her incontinence and inability to stand increased too. Her dementia, causes her to call very loudly at all times of day and night.

What is really sad is that she is still eating heartily and remains very affectionate.....but her quality of life has deteriorated to the point where the joint family decision is that it is her time; to prolong the current situation for too long isnt good for any of us.

A tough day is ahead ......we will miss her presence around the house greatly.

Awww Fuji - I know exactly how you feel,  but well done for making the decision to do 'the last act of love' rather than let Tinke linger on in discomfort. Good thoughts your way.

Balancing this a one really sad day against the lifetime of love and care you have given to her  Fooj will help you get  through the coming hours ... it is an unselfish act to prevent any suffering . I had to do it thirteen times with elderly cats and it never got any easier ... but I knew it was the right thing to do.  Sad for you my friend ....

Our beloved old Tinke has been laid to rest, next to the late great.....Big-Ollie.

Sorry to read this Fuji.  It's hard and there is no way around it.  We have always had dogs and the reminders still keep coming.  But it gets easier as time goes on.

Making  pictures as we do is wonderful,  in that it means we can look at images from the past and recapture the memories  so vividly ... What a lovely keepsake  for you ... and hats off to the photographer ( Mrs Fooj? ) who had the foresight to take it as it turns out ....Thanks for sharing   your sad day with us Fooj ...

I've been trying to catch up on posts as I haven't been on properly for a while.

I knew Big Ollie was poorly but didn't know he had crossed the Bridge, and now Tinke.

I can't pass by this thread without telling you how sorry I am to hear the sad news about both cats.

They were very luck to have such caring humans and the best life that any cat could wish for.

Aw Fuji I'm so sorry. The same happened to my cat Smarty. Her whole nervous system gave up in the end and I had to make the same awful decision. Them when Bonnie my rabbit lost the use of her back legs we did the same. Fond memories eventually replace the heartbreak.
