It has been quite fascinating these last few months seeing the different birdlife around our house area and block. The coldest, but driest Winter since we moved here 11 years ago, resulting in slightly different native flora. We have seen more species of Honeyeaters that we have ever seen previously, and today I heard a distinctive bird call and went out to investigate. I saw, to my delight, a New Holland Honeyeater- not a rare bird, but just not seen in 'our yard' before. Managed to catch a couple:

I think this was the male and when he made his piercing call again, two more appeared from out of some low Grevillea bushes. Hope to see them around for a while longer, I love them!! :D

Thanks all - they are very active little birds, so they don't stay still for long. I was lucky with the second shot as he sat with a good background. The first one is a huge crop from the original, and is one of the others that came out from under the bush. I'll be watching out for more of them :D
