Out today down at Newcastle Quayside and spotted a shot that only the iPhone could get.

These rivets (?) were tiny but the lens being in a corner of the phone means you can get it half an inch or so off the ground and get some unusual angles.
A 16:9 crop and a bit of processing to give it oomph...

if I go back I'm going to take a few shots at different focus depths and try and get everything sharp by stacking them in Helicon Focus - might turn out even more unusual.

The interesting thing is how shallow the DOF is in this shot, for such a tiny sensor. What's the maximum aperture of the iPhone, and can you control it?

Judy we were walking along to the farm and this is the bridge over the Ouseburn near the bike cafe.

 

Chris you can't control the aperture but these things were tiny and I was at minimum focus distance so its exaggerating the narrow DoF. 

Have a look at the picture on an iPhone 6 and you can see how close to the corner/edge the lens is - thats how close to the bridge surface the picture was taken from so you can guess at how small the rivets were...
