Oooooh  love that Korks ... The light reflection is fab and that   faded text is really my cuppa on the  textured   graduated BG......  luvverly ..

I'm back! Sorry for the absence.....I've been having a real struggle with motivation of late, but I am better now.

No need to apologise Brian ... happens to most of us at some time or other ... it is grand to hear that  are feeling better  though ... and ... no ... I don’t recall ever seeing a bike like that before .... looks like it could be a bumpy ride now ..

Alas quite a bit before my time Brian, but it's a Velocette LE made by Veloce Ltd, in Hall Green, Birmingham, England between 1948 to 1970, this looks to be a very early MK I version - though obviously missing it's tyres.... Love the short depth of field again Brian

A very late effort from me this week, not been out with my camera all week, except for tonight - not sure what I was going to do if the shots of Whalley Gatehouse this evening didn't work out...

Not done any evening shooting since last year..... Whalley Abbey Gatehouse...

You are right, Rye. The LE Velocette was known (at least in London) as The Noddy Bike and was used by some Police instead of pushbikes.

I did fiddle with the dof a bit in PShop. As the background was a bit distracting, I did a hasty gradated Gaussian Blur on it.

It's very effective and works well for the image, I've been to classic car shows and it's difficult to get uncluttered shots once the cars/bikes have parked up....

We have some new melaleucas in flower on our block, [not planted by us, part of the reseeding project that was done when we moved up here], and they are a honey magnet atm for both ants and bees:

We call these little birds, Red-Browed Firetails. This is the first photo I've taken of them so they get to go up on the TIPF site.

Lovely looking finch and like many other finches is a seed eater - those big beaks are a giveaway.... We have many types of Finches in the UK, they're usually pretty common garden birds.
