Everything posted by Paul

  1. So an associate that has a 3D printer sent me his Twin Flash Diffusion attachments - and I have had just a quick go (not enough time to do much) and these are the first edits from today/tonight. Paul.
  2. Looking for nightlife on Tuesday and found 2: A small tortoiseshell (Aglais urticae) resting until morning, and a hedgehog on the pathway by the house.
  3. Beautiful scene Denis. Paul.
  4. Looks like a nice remote spot Fogey, narey a soul around bar the bird... Paul.
  5. Looks a very big estate Geoff. I assume no entry inside the building? Paul.
  6. There are at least 30 different ones, so not sure which one this may be, but it tried to disguise itself on a stone to hide from me. Silly Opilly.... Paul.
  7. Stay safe Dee, take care x Paul.
  8. That's nicely atmospheric. Paul.
  9. Just look at all that Ivy on the tree on the right! Paul.
  10. Thank you Polly - I'm glad you're impressed. James - yeah, looks like she had some kind of issue as the elytra was forming, but it can fly, so appears not to be an issue for her. Paul.
  11. I'm still playing with diffusion and I have another plan coming together from a new associate soon. However these were taken with my current Vellum and template set up. I even had one flash head set to twice the power of the other on one photo (kinda noticeable). The last few were with old 3D printed USA made attachments - and I think like all diffusion and light on LB's the angles make it worse, or better. I have not edited any highlights individually on any of these.... I have something new to try later this week hopefully. Paul.
  12. Fungus, an Ichy, and a (not the best) fly... Paul.
  13. Congrats Vanguard Paul.
  14. Thank you muchly Polly. Paul.
  15. Paul

    Wasp!!!

    Thank you kindly. Paul.
  16. This wasp was quiet happy for me to take it's photo - time was around 7pm, and the day was wet and windy, and cool at around 16°C. As well as being voracious and important predators, wasps are increasingly recognised (according to BBC Science) as being valuable pollinators, transferring pollen as they visit flowers to drink nectar. It is actually their thirst for sweet liquids that helps to explain why they become so bothersome at this time of year. This maybe the Vespula germanica (looking at the 2 spots on the face). Paul.
  17. Thanks Geoff. I can't give my bugs as it's all I can do well enough at among all genres! I'm lucky to find a few different ones in my little patch, and some equipment capable of capturing them (thanks again). Paul.
  18. Cheers Geoff. I have it on the national sites (iNaturalist) as a Pemphredon (a member of Aphid Wasps Subfamily Pemphredoninae).... Paul.
  19. Four today: a couple of Pardosa wolf spiders, a Lepthyphantes sp. and Eratigena sp. (I think I have them all correct now...) Paul.
  20. Just found a bark fly on the compost bin. First one I have seen this year... And the tubifex worms or whatever they are (blood worms?) are out in force around an apple that has fallen into my little garden pond. Paul.
