Bit wet and muddy which normally would not be an issue but I was wearing new shoes and had no wish to enflame the wrath of lady wife!

It really is, Paul - everywhere you point your camera seems to give you a great shot.

Great perspective on a magnificent building.

Harvest time on the farm, an agricultural photo heavy set
David995031 replied to Denis's topic in Landscape and Scenic
Nice set, evoking the mood of late summer in the countryside. Particularly like no. 3 and no. 4. The vivid splash of red in both is the ideal contrast to the golden harvest colours. -
So many places - so little time!

Yes, Polly she is a Ragdoll. The bell idea makes sense but she is going home at the weekend.

I am not a big fan of cats but, with some reluctance, agreed to look after Dolly, our granddaughters cat while they are on holiday. She spends most of her time terrorising the birds on our garden feeders. Spawn of Satan.

Wow! Classy couple.

Lovely work John - love the way you have caught the light from the setting sun illuminating the spit of land and esp the horse's tail.

As it is pretty futile to try to capture the full scale of a building like this with a puny camera lens, I have concentrated on some appealing details. The ghostly figures in the second shot were (I think) the result of a longish exposure to make the best of the limited light. I though it would be worth posting the shot anyway. o

You misunderstand me, Polly - I was talking about Fuji!

Handsome chap.

Thanks Denis. We had a bit of time in Glastonbutu before moving down the road to Wells. Some Wells shots to follow.

The last of my Glastonbury shots. This is the long ruined abbey, dating back to the 8th century. It also has a dubious claim to be the burial site of King Arthur. Apparently somebody dug up some old bones in the 14th century and decided it was the noble king. Pretty doubtful though, DNA analysis was in its infancy in those days. Anyway, as ruins go it is pretty magnificent.

Thanks Polly, I like to build in the odd deliberate mistake just to make sure you are paying attention.....and you always are!

Lovely work, Denis. The late afternoon, early evening sequence is a fine subject.

Cracking shot, Denis. The stark contrast between the dark foreground vegetation and the golden light on the geometric buildings is quite striking.

I feel that crocquet is one of those quintessentially English things that no-one has actually ever seen much less played. Here's my first ever sight of this high octane activity at Wells, Somerset. I feel a bit of a fraud sticking it in "Sport and Action" but where else?

This is a solitary mound plonked on top of the low lying Somerset Levels, finished off with a lonely mediaeval tower. Makes for a great walk.
-
No - I didn't see anything mundane.

Thanks, Denis. We were just speculating how it must be getting here though the little roads when the festival on - I have absolutely no plans to find out!

Slightly out of season is the best time to visit this weird, quirky town. Just take the Middle Earth turning off the M5 and it's the second on the left. Having a few days in Somerset so more to follow.

Maybe they were a reflection of the unimportance of the exact time in those days. half an hour here or there.....so what?
