Sand and Solitude .....

Recommended Posts

I took this  photo of other half on Port Eynon beach ... I wanted to show  the complete solitude  we experienced on such a beautiful stretch of sand  with only his footprints  in front of me  for 2-3 miles  ...!We only saw  4 people and 2 dogs the whole time we were there !

and in Mono as I couldn't decide  which I preferred !

Thanks Guys ... I  did actually  reduce the tones in red  and blue channels on purpose to  accentuate a  kind of negative space to emphasise the  emptiness that we encountered  ... looks like that  failed to do that  then eh 🤣

I  wouldn't say failed, I think no matter how you process it, it will have that vast empty space feel to it.  I process several versions sometimes  before I find the look I looking for ......or not😆

Sometimes I think you can like both versions of an image you process for different aspects of them … I like the colour version  for the feeling of really bright sunlight on the right of the picture that I associate with that almost blinding reflection you get on wet sand on a really sunny day  but I like the mono version  because the contrast between almost textureless sand and texture in the clouds is accentuated more without the distraction of colour …  Thanks for all your input on these two pics folks … I love that opinions are stimulated  by two versions of the same  view …  and respect that we all have different views on what we want out of a photo … Hopefully we can have more discussions like this … it’s been informative ….👍🏻
