Grasshopper.

Paul & Terry... I did wonder at the time I took the shot as to whether it was a Grasshopper or a Cricket. I did try to check it out and the info I came up with states a Speckled Bush Cricket has a brown stripe all the way down it's back. The one in my original shot clearly doesn't have a brown stripe, do you think this is because it's immature?

Here is a shot that clearly shows the brown stripe, so I think I can positively say this is a Speckled Bush Cricket.  Any comments or info will be much appreciated.

All amazing shots.

Macro is something I have never done, I have to admit I'm in ore of these images.

Craig... I have so much fun taking macros of insects, it's so challenging. I hope this summer turns out like last... it was brilliant once it got started after being such a cold spring.

I've never seen a bush cricket btw John.

The few I got were on the grasses near the saltmatshes of Lytham St Annes, and the captive ones that were meant to be food for snakes.

I took a few of the ones I got from the pet shop and then I released them by our canal, where hopefully, they survived! Me being me, I went for real close ups though, lol..

I think I may have to invest in a macro lens at some point. :)

Superb shots I would love to shoot some like these!
