Another cracking image, Bill. The treatment you've given this is just superb.

Now........ You must have at least one crap shot lurking somewhere on your hard drive. Why not post it and prove to us all that you're human. Go on, before I put my camera on eBay and just call it a soddin' day!

Bill, you are the .....Master of Light......I attempted to use actual filters on the camera once, it wasn't a great success, because we just don't seem to have the scenery around us, unless you bore people with the classic views of our neighbouring Castle.

I do have a full set, so might try it again at some point.

Ok, I certainly 'get' the top ND to darken the sky. My next question is - why use one for the bottom when you could simply expose for it?

A) If I had reduced the exposure the sky would have been darker - too dark

B) It was a soft grad and so darkened the bottom of the frame more than the middle.

Sorry - I still don't get it. The point of a ND filter is to reduce exposure, in this case of the sky, yes? So, why not use a ND filter that made the sky the same exposure as the land, then expose for all of it?

I see what you used there Bill - I'm just not sure yet why? (Consider me a dummy...). Why not use just enough ND to get the sky how you want it, then expose for everything?

Because at the bottom the grass was too bright and unbalanced the photo I wanted to retain the brightness of the grasses at the centre of the frame but not the bottom so as to focus the attention in the frame centre.

Ah right. I follow you now. All I can say is that I was never much of a filter user in the days of film (apart from Haze and Polarising), so now I've learned to do it in Photoshop instead.
