You may have seen in the news? A massive fire at the Cathedral Green in Exeter yesterday, which destroyed an art gallery but then spread to England's oldest hotel, The Royal Clarence, next door, which has now been completely destroyed. :( More than a day later the fire is still burning, and crews from Devon, Somerset and Dorset have been working hard to stop its spread.

This picture shows one of the four aerial platforms used to fight the blaze. (I was in Exeter yesterday anyway, meeting my sister for lunch - luckily, of the choice of two restaurants, we had previously decided on the one which wasn't a few doors down from the fire.)

Made a special trip to Blackpool yesterday to have a go a photographing the 'Lights'.

Took camera, lenses, Gorilla Pod, newly charged batteries, flask of tea, chocolate biscuits and Mrs K. Paid four quid to park and set off for the prom just about as happy as Larry.

Got to the South Pier and, as it was still daylight, thought I'd mingle and take a few people pics. However....

I then discovered I hadn't brought a memory card.

Took 4 shots on my iPhone and called it a day.

"I then discovered I hadn't brought a memory card"
Sounds like the definition of "irony " that does

I could nearly read the first (quoted) line, but the second defeats me! Black on black. Hmmm.

Of course Blackpool is famed for not having anywhere you can buy a memory card... especially while daylight and therefore shops still open. :8_laughing:

ETA: With this new dark theme I can now read Polly's quoted post. No longer black on black against a white background! Oh I do hope Phil keeps this new skin.
