Hello

A bit long in the tooth to be starting on this photography lark, but there you are

Got myself a Nikon D3300. My Dad (who is a very old man and a photography nut) gave me his Nikon 35mm f1.8 prime lens, and I've been trying it out these last few days

Joined flickr and have uploaded some photos to my page

There are a few on here old in the tooth and a few addled in other departments 
But with age comes experience so any advice needed ask away

Why would we laugh ?

Try focusing on the second button bottom Left Your lens should be good for low light 
But remember the smaller the aperture number the less is in focus

I have the same lens, now on my D5300, previously on my old D3000, and both will work well together   Welcome to the forum, and I didnt own a camera until late 2012!

Yeah, I'm just getting to grips with all that. It's a steep learning curve, that's for sure!

Might be teaching you how to suck eggs but if you want to read up on focusing the technical term is hyperfocal distance
