What a beautiful sight!

B/w does it for me. It brings back memories of our annual family holiday to Herne Bay when I was about 8 or 9. They were great times and this is a great image. The snow, really sets it off.

Thanks Terry and Brian, it was supposed to be The Flying Scotsman, I'd picked this location as it was easy for parking and to get to and I knew that the loco from Bury were usually engine facing front. What I didn;t know was that the timetable was behind schedule and the Scotsman arrived 40 minutes late at Rawtenstall, and was facing the wrong way. So jumped back into the car drove back to this location to get The Flying Scotsman going back, alas by this time the light was failing and was starting to snow, plus the view in the opposte directive was not as photogenic. But still got to see it after it's recent £4 million refurb...

It doesn't matter how old you are, you still get that tingle down the spine when you see these great machines...............and I'm not even a train enthusiast.

Hello Mr Wolf - I thought I had posted in this last Sunday, not sure what happened but anyway....

Both super images, well composed and that looks a great location for this kind of shot. I understand where Chris is coming from and this is one image I could play with a RAW file for ages although your desaturated version looks a little 'dirty' now?

Both work well, but the colour just pips the post for me - It brings back happy memories from when I lived in Settle and was woken up every morning by the steam-trains on the Settle-Carlisle line, a couple o' hundred yards from my bedroom window
