Speckled Wood.

I managed a walk along my local small river today, I was looking for butterflies, I saw Brimstones, Peacocks, Orange Tips (males) and Speckled Woods. This Speckled Wood was the only one I could photograph as none of the others settled. Heck my damn bunions are giving me hell now, it looks like I will have to face the knife again at least the hernia is fixed now though.

Ooh that's a really nice example John .. You always take such lovely butterfly pictures  ...

Sorry to hear  the bunions are so painful ....  I suppose we must all have  some things  we  find  really hard to cope with  but thankful to keep this virus at bay ...  We lost an Uncle 10 days ago ... and only one person is going to the funeral on the 21st . Sadder than sad for all the grief in the world ...  when people cannot even say goodbye ..

Denis... Speckled Wood butterflies are seldom seen out in strong sunlight, they are mostly found under the tree canopy where sunlight is breaking through, they have a greater tolerance of shade than most butterflies.
