I did want a shot from further down the platform to get the buildings in on that side as well, but there was a whacking great yellow crane that was just out of shot on the left. The hill you can see is Pen-y-ghent.

I think a lot of folk in the country would echo your sentiments  regarding seeing a train in a station today Phil ....

Its a few years since I was on that station Rye... but #1 captures  an era of steam trains cleverly without a puff of steam in sight ... really nicely presented and crisp as a cracker ...  very nice indeed.

Thanks Phil and Clicker, I was hoping a train might go through, but they only run every two hours or so on a Sunday. The Flying Scotsman will be coming through here tomorrow - though I suspect it will be a lot busier....

To be honest I try and compose my shot around them rather than doing a lot of editing afterwards...

Unfortunately that wasnt possible in Ghent, as there were so many of them. If you look at the Ghent shot I put up, there was one slap bang in the middle <sodemoji.1f61e> </sodemoji.1f61e>

You did well, I see no cranes.... When absolutely necessary I will do some cloning out and editing - there was a bit of crane in the first image, not a lot just enough to intrude slightly - it was just 50-60pixels though.
