2018 Calendar - January

Recommended Posts

I really like the sound of this challenge....I’m off to  the North East for a few days to surprise a sister for her 60th birthday... there are a lot of special birthdays and anniversaries this year... 21st 40th 70th 50th 65th 13th 18th 99th so I may have a bit of fun with  Birthday cakes ..... I’ll certainly have more than one theme though ....    ;)

I'm so cross ...spent the last two days looking for the  sd card  I had used for  three themes  I was playing with and can I find it ,,,? I  suspect it has dropped out the zipped compartment on the camera bag I was using when i changed the battery ... So I' ve rushed out late this afternoon to take a few landscapes  in case I really have lost it

Haven't been anywhere different and the heat has slowed us down over the past couple of weeks, so my January one will have to be one of these two, one of which I used in the 2107 weekly project. Not very special, but it does represent some of our birdlife. not sure on a theme yet, may just have to be randoms depending on what we do and where we go.

You don't often see birds sitting like that unless they are on their nest Dee...pretty face .. a theme of your wildlife  would be great from  my point of view as i love seeing your native  animals and birds ( ok  not so much the spiders ;) )...

Isn't Nature messy and untidy this time of year ...Here's another contender for the January spot . Both are  local Fishing Pools at Wychenford nearby...

I often see wood pigeons sitting like this in trees, in fact just today as I was looking through some photo's from earlier this year when I came across 6 or 7 images of one.

.I love the trains Rye ....but the sunny Pendle Hill is really  eyecatching and it never looks the same twice so I  can  understand you running two themes at least until you decide... I might be doing a waterways  rivers and canals theme as I  seem to have lost the sd card with my 4 doors  and some Churches that I had in mind as themes... grrrr

Are you thinking of a Bridges theme James ? Its not that easy to think of a theme is it ... one that doesn't limit it to anything too specialised .

Beepy looks like he may well be going coastal, unsurprisingly, and that looks a great start BP..

I'm not planning it that way at the moment, however I'd be surprised if there aren't a few more. My only planned unifying feature is film -- I'd like to try to use as many of my film cameras as possible.

Brilliant to see you here too Jeff :1310_thumbsup_tone1:... Already three quality images to choose from ...They all look really super on my 27 "  screen. Hard to pick one ... but my personal choice is the third one ... just beautiful colouring and the light just emphasises a lovely roundness of the composition ...plus a great "eye".

Fooj ...two very memorable portraits ... ... tough decision  ...cant quite make my mind up which I would choose yet ...hmmm .

Beepy ... dammit ... they all could make it for the January spot .... For me ...it's between the dog walker of the beach and the  photographer  on the shore .... and because you seem to be doing a coastal theme ... I think the photographer on the shore should be your cover pic ....showing Spotlight on the Shoreline  and the dog walker should be your January pic ... I hope other s will discuss too on here  ..

Rye ...I love the second train pic  but for me you have a real affinity with that Pendle Hill area and I 'd love to see all the different moods it depicts over the year .

Dee I just love these two in the large format on my screen ... the second one for me... looking into the page and not out of it .

Brian ....well as you said ... just one to choose from ....however its a cracking dramatic image that I have already said that I liked .

James ... For me I think the first one get my vote ... the greater contrasts made me decide ... I might have played with a tighter crop,  just to see if I could avoid  the bridge splitting the image almost into two equal halves ...  just an idea that might be worth experimenting with ... course  it's just me thinking aloud ...  Lovely to have someone using film ... ...  do you develop and print your own ?

Well we have gotten off to a pretty good start with 8  people ...  there may be more who haven't edited yet ... I have another  one or two from my last minute  rush on the 31st ... I think I have definitely lost  my sd card that I was keeping dedicated to the calendar shots  so ....bah ... looks like I'm stuck with local pics or waterways canals etc or landscapes...I might do churches for myself as I had 12 lined up in the area and am gutted that  I've lost a batch that I took for January .

Korky had withdrawn from this and is taking some time out  but sr1867 (Simon ) and WereBo said they hoped to join in so  we may get entries from them soon ...
