  1. I can't add to what has already been said. Simply breath taking.
  2. Lordy! I'm far too old for that.
  3. Thank you all. People in a landscape works every time, doesn't it? That particular couple saw me composing the photograph and paused while I was taking the shot. When I invited them to walk into the frame to become prop, the woman said, with a smile, she'd prefer to be known as a film extra.
  4. Canals are always a favourite of mine for taking shots of the autumn colours, together with the reflections.

More drama - at 8.45am? My head is hurting. Excellent shots, Geoff......well up to your usual standard.
  6. I do like the composition of this photo, with the hedgerow leading the viewer into the scene, Denis. Nicely spotted and taken.
  7. But that's the whole point.... it was a bright day with sunny spells. OK - scenario: I was shooting from deep shadow into an open area lit by bright sunlight from a low equinox. The reflected light from the water was so bright it shimmered, making it difficult to look at. So........ the shutter speed was set to 1/2000th sec to avoid the sky and water being blown out. The ISO was set to 500 to avoid noise. The aperture was set to f/13 to give me a workable hyperfocal distance. Metering was centre weighted. Now I realised that the camera would expose for the brightly lit water, leaving a silhouette, so I focussed on the little ducky thing to ensure the fore and background were inside the focal range and took the shot. All well and good? Well, in Post Processing I simply couldn't recover the colour, (not that I wanted to), the histogram showed the image was well exposed and any attempt to recover the colour simply over exposed the image. In fact no matter what I tried the image stayed a monochrome. I'm trying to understand what happened.
  8. ..... this is actually a colour photograph?
  9. Thank you Polly. This photo will be printed to canvas and will be hanging on my wall - as a Christmas present to me.
  10. My Life - that looks a tad parky.
  11. Prefer the first, Polly. Excellent shot.
  12. Cracking Photo, clicker. Very atmospheric - and with a sunburst to boot.
  13. I went to Attingham Park to shoot the Autumn colours.
  14. I tell you Clicker, these youngsters were scampering up and down these tall pines in a spiral so fast they defied focussing. This little blighter was after the squirrel feeder, just out of shot, so even as he paused, I had to be damned fast to capture him.
  15. Ditto, Paul and I have a garden pond in my back garden.
  16. I waited for three weeks for a glimpse of a red Squirrel and then on the last day twelve showed up.
  17. Lovely shots... I look at images like these, Clicker and am so glad I live in this country, despite all its failings.
  18. Revisiting my shots of Scotland.
  19. Thank you Clicker, I'll give that a go when I have a suitable image.
  20. No problem at all, Clicker. I did have the idea of having the hand appear pencil sketched, creating more ambiguity. I take on board what you say about having some of the flower uncoloured, giving the sense of a work in progress. It just goes to show how many interpretations can be made on the theme.
  21. Photo > sketch > sketch > photo and some jiggery pokery - I think. Playing around with Photoshop, Nik software, Serif Photo
