  1. I definitely like the position of the mine buildings better in this one. I have to agree with James about the sea though. Do you have enough sea in the original shot to recrop?
  2. Not sure about the name now, but the lady in the National Trust centre at Bottallack told us the one at the top there was used as the mine in the latest series. They were due to be filming there a couple of weeks after we visited. (That was the same holiday we saw them filming in Charlestown.)
  3. Congratulations, Paul!
  4. Congratulations, Stella!

"Re-Opening Special" - good news! I prefer the B&W version, Geoff.
  6. Or maybe just a tree?
  7. Great work, Fuji - I particularly like the lynx. I'm sorry to hear about yoiur brother.
  8. It's my turn to choose POTW - there were lots of good images to choose from this week. Honourable mentions go to: Rybear for sunset over llanmadoc hill - the second image (the monochrome one) and Fuji for A Serene Scene But my pick for this week is Paul's After The Rain Showers: Full thread here.
  9. My turn to choose POTW again and in my opinion there was really only one contender this week, so congratulations to Paul for a second consecutive POTW with "The Night Demon": Well done Paul - an incredibly sharp and colourful macro image! Full thread here.
  10. I think I've still got some old TDS ones somewhere, Jeff! They can be handy to give out if you get talking to someone about photography when you're out & about.
  11. Congratulations, Vanguard!
  12. It's that time of the week again and my turn to pick POTW. As usual there are plenty of good images to pick from but my choices for the week are: Honourable mentions to Lanzarote January 2006 by JohnP - the first one really looks like it was taken on Mars (apart from the road perhaps!) Lake Hawea Again by Stravinski - great reflections in the lake! But my pick for this week is this one: Mumbles Sunrise and Broad Pool by Rybear - I was very torn between #3 and #4 in this set but I decided I liked #4 best. I see from the comments on the original thread that Polly preferred #3 though! There's something about the shape of the trees that reminds me of one of Roger Dean's "Yes" album covers. Gareth
  13. Good choice, Cheryl. Congratulations, Paul!
  14. My turn for POTW again! Amazingly, my pick for the week was described by the author as a "reject". I wish my non-rejects were as good as the images in this thread - some superb B&W processing. Well done Ryland! Broad Pool Revisited by Rybear Full thread here. Gareth
  15. Well done, Roger - Congratulations!
  16. Congratulations, Jeff!
  17. And so it falls to me to select the first POTW of 2021... Honourable mentions to: Brushes by Vanguard. I'm a sucker for monochrome images and I thought this one worked really well. Mist in the Valley by Ryewolf. I really like the layers of mist and the blue light. But my favourite of the week is Cruise to Norway by stevedevil. As others have said, this looks just like liquid gold - a wonderful shot. Well done Steve! Gareth
  18. Belated congratulations, BP!
