  1. Now that is a longway for broadband connection, ok you are allowed to get a little bit jealous nw, but my fibre broadband connection is just 600 yars away and I can walk to the cabinet in under a minute. But yours looks miles away, so good on ya (I believe that's that's an Oz saying) for being with us and hope whatever thery're doing they do it quick. PS, I forgot to add most of us in the UK would be extremely envious for a view like that from our back door. I know I am....
  2. I'd just converted it from Oz dollars to English money and got the same amount and I'd spend it on the LensBaby Composer Pro System.... £499
  3. That looks like a good calander there Paul.
  4. Not used this one myself, but seems ok. Might be worth bearing in mind what camera and lens you're going to put on it, as it only holds upto 3kg. I bought myself a carbon fibre one with a ball head, it has free angle legs, a removeable centre coloumn and also converts to a monopod and had a load weight of 10kg. It was considerably more than the Konig one, but I planned to use it with the big Sigma lens which weighs in at a tad under 4kilos.
  5. Thanks Phil, Kev and Kobione, I wanted to be a steam train driver when I was young... Portraits and people aren't one of my strongpoints, I;ll admit that, but I'll give anything a go. I may have said this before, but I've really enjoyed the weekly challenges, it gives you something to focus on - a particular subject matter. I;ve been to 6 places loking for the right image for the Public Art Challange and I just love it....
  6. Weekly Challenge #17 - Something Blue This weeks challenge invites you to take one photograph that shows Something Blue. Any interpretation and post production allowed, so start looking for blue.... Photo to be taken and uploaded by midnight Monday 28th September 2015. Voting from Tuesday until midnight Friday 2nd October - Winner announced Saturday 3rd October. Don't forget to add a title and the date when the image was taken.
  7. Thanks Chrissy, and to everyone who voted and took part. Better get a new theme up and running...
  8. The clue is in the name:Challenge, as well as being an intersting experiment, it also should challenge us as photogrhers to go out there and do something that we wouldn't normally do. I've enoyed the challanges so far and taking part. Long may they continue. I hope it isnt flagging , but rather some challanges are more difficult to complete than others.
  9. Yep, I agree an excellent shot. This iPhone really can capture some great images.
  10. How come your image as stopped showing Chrissy? It was definitely there mid week.
  11. Weekly Challenge #16 - Public Art This weeks challenge invites you to take one photograph that shows Public Art, this can be statues, scupltures, murals, memorials, art installions etc, as long as it can be viewed in a public place. Any interpretation and post production allowed. Photo to be taken and uploaded by midnight Monday 21st September 2015. Voting from Tuesday until midnight Friday 25 September - Winner announced Saturday 26 September. Don't forget to add a title and the date when the image was taken.
  12. Thanks everyone for voting and taking part. Well, I guess I'd better get a new challenge up and running. Yes, just a few of the many I have around the house.
  13. Umm, well it was a tie when I looked earlier this morning...
  14. Oh, a tie... first one for a while. Just checked the how it works thread: In the event of a tie a new poll will created for a period of 24 hours to determine the outright winner.
  15. Sorry I forgot to say what I did with mine, I selected the sky, inverted selection added a small feather, then used the Darken RGB to get rid of the haze - done in Paint Shop Pro, then ran it through Photomatix Pro 5 to play around with the white/black clip and midtones. Photomatix doesn't have all the bells and whistles that Lightroom has, but alas my aging Win XP pc won't run the latest version of Lightroom. I also did a crop similar to fuzzyedges....
  16. Umm.. something has gone a bit awry in the sky... I had a go too
  17. I agree, the N in ND stands for Neutral not purpleish or whatever, I suppose like everything you gets what you pay for and if they do what they say they do then sometimes the prices justifies it. I'd love to be able to afford a few sets of Lee Filters just so I could try them out... sadly I can't , probably like most people.
  18. I also have a set of the Cokin Grads/Full ND filters and they do give a rather purpleish cast to them - even worse if you stack 2 together. I did look at getting a set of Lee Filters myself, but couldn't reall justify the expense - I know Lee's Big Stopper is usually always on top in reviews - but again couldn't justify the expense of the filter, holder and adapter ring... Think I've only used my ND Filters 3 times in 18 months....
  19. I was going to suggest Lee Filters - a bit pricey at almost £200 for a set of 3 and you would need a 100mm filter holder. I haven't used the following, but seen good reviews... Formatt Hitech 100mm Graduated Neutral Density Kit (0.3, 0.6, 0.9) - £98.55 http://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B009A3KLT8 You'd still need a 100mm filter holder - xcsource (on amazon) do one for 11.99
