  1. It's was a great opportunity however so take the positives out of it ... you got a great set !
  2. Very nice capture Mic ... it's a strange looking thing though isn't it ? Welcome aboard too ...
  3. What a magnificent set and accompanying narrative Paul ... Recording the event must have been quite difficult both from and emotional and a physical point of view ... sometimes it is hard NOT to interfere with Nature's Balance and to follow one's instinct to "save " a creature ... We have interfered too often with the balance of nature on our planet I'm afraid .... The 3 rd and 4th images are brilliant ... displaying what feels like human emotions of shock and horror and suddenly seeing the predator ! A brilliant set Paul .
  4. Thanks Dee ... I will post some pics soon of the mess that was made by the storm ...
  5. Oh Ok .... I misunderstood your Post ... so thank you just the same ... It was a really lovely surprise too.
  6. Aw Paul ... you could have left it for the two pics to rollover into next weeks POTW if there was just the two pics to choose from ....But. thank you for your kind words behind the sentiment of the image ... it is appreciated .
  7. I grow lilies too but I have a job protecting them from that red lily beetle that seems to decimate the leaves overnight if I don't spray them ... I tried just soapy water but it didn't work so against my environmentally friendly principles I used a chemical spray to protect the plants ...
  8. No apologies required Mark .... Life gets in the way on a regular basis and stops us from doing things we would rather do sometimes. ... ... I would be out taking photos all day long but at the moment I seem to have a plethora of projects that are demanding my attention !
  9. I have no idea where the time has gone Fogey ... just grateful to still be able to do the things I am doing ! I remember Procul Harum and that song was their biggest (and only ?) hit as I recall in 1967... Your late wife had immaculate taste Fogey.... Thanks Paul ... its such a fabulous magenta colour and makes quite a statement in the border ... I buy a lot of plants in memory of absent friends and relatives ....it seems an appropriate thing to do, to keep memories a part of ones everyday life by planting something you see growing and representing some of your thoughts about that person each time you see it and care for it .
  10. Welcome to The Independent Photography Forum. Please feel free to browse around and get to know the others. If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to ask.

  11. I bought this hardy geranium early this year in memory of my later sister in law who died a year ago as it bears the same name as her. It's first bloom opened on exactly the day to mark the first anniversary of that event and it hasn't stopped flowering since . I was concerned that I had lost it after a catastrophic storm last week caused an enormous 20 foot bough with a 16 inch diameter to crash into the garden from a 100 foot high Black Poplar in the paddock at the bottom of my front garden! A very scary experience as I was stood where it fell less than 10 minutes earlier and would not have survived ... It flattened a lot of my trees and shrubs so I have been busy all week clearing up with the help of a team of 7 other people !
  12. A bit of a bad hair day it seems ... I know how it feels ! Some stunning shots Paul... he's a Ginger too !
  13. Oooh Hatter .... Pigeons are the ugly ones and collared doves are the pretty ones ! Lovely studies Rye and super Bokeh on both ....
  14. Oh he really does look like a juicy morsel doesn't he ... Fab photos ...AGAIN .... Paul
  15. Definitely dramatic ... an eyecatching image that you can't ignore ....well done Monkey ... winning in a week full of really good photos . Good choice Fogey ....
  16. I like this ..... quite a mysterious feel to it ...
  17. That is a very atmospheric image Mark ... congratulations .
  18. That was my next question Hatter ….snap ! Thanks for that James ..
  19. I agree with Fogey ... a definite IR feel to the images James ... I really like the 2nd image ... Worth clicking on it to get the larger version .... It has terrific tonal range and the composition is very pleasing .. I like the square format too . Having just read up on the history I can see that it was developed in about 1980 in Japan and was a pretty up market camera... It looks a bit of a beast ... from the review I read on this link :- https://www.gregoryowain.co.uk/blog/bronica-sq-a-review Do tell us more about it......
  20. That a beauty ... fabulous colours !
  21. Fabulous catches ...
  22. Must be his age .... Well observed !
  23. Excellent panning technique Monkey resulting in some very good shots of herons … they really do seem prehistoric don’t they?
