  1. That looks unusual Rye , that first engine …. Love the second Pic… timeless image ..
  2. I love these raptors Monkey …. Such elegance and grace when you spot them soaring on the thermals … a super set and lovely detail …. Hand held. ?
  3. I thought you were just experimenting Gareth ... It's good to keep up with the new technology though I agree.
  4. I agree ... but the quality of the image will be sufficient for all those people who only ever want to see the image displayed on a monitor or phone ...
  5. Well it looks just like our vine weevils and they absolutely can devastate plants that they use to feed on and as nurseries for their eggs underground .. I I have lost 30 year old rhododendrons that are 7 foot high through these pests and they take a lot of getting rid of ... As Paul says ... the grubs just eat away the entire root system over a few days when they hatch from the eggs and of course the shrub just keels over and dies ! The adults just nibble a few leaves.... but the youngsters kill the host !
  6. Arghhh... certainly not in the front row when pretty looks were being handed out Mik ... however you have got some amazing detail there ....
  7. Lovely colours Mark ... good reflections but prefer the second image for the composition and the exposure ... Just get rid of that bit of intrusive petal entering the right of the frame that's annoying me ......lol
  8. The shadows and reflections of the people are still visible ... ghost like ... It is a useful way of removing really unwanted stuff that can ruin an image that used to take ages doing it manually but I'm with Rye on this one and prefer the image with the people included in it ...
  9. That looks a good spot for the dogs Dee ... I suppose we should be grateful about excess water in the current climate ... it's a valuable resource that is essential to life itself isn't it?
  10. Beautifully presented Paul ... just check the dates though as it seems the bell was removed in 1846 ... and then 1728 when it's return was demanded ... erm ... typo ?
  11. Phone cameras have improved so much now haven't they ... lovely vista Monkey ...
  12. Yes I agree with Rye .....were you there just for the day Hatter ?
  13. Flippin' rain grrrrr .....caused us to lose the Ashes methinks !
  14. Another super macro image Mik...
  15. That's a fabulous shot Paul ... just brilliant !
  16. Wow Colin ... there can't be many of those left in the world. You must be thrilled to get these photos Colin ... a great addition to your portfolio ... Hubby says he remembers making an airfix model of this Messerschmitt jet fighter when he was a kid ! A fabulous set !
  17. I imagine to protect all those eggs in the egg sac ... they would no doubt make a tasty snack for some creature looking for a ready made breakfast !
  18. I am not a big fan of too long an exposure of moving water though this is an exception to the rule . It may be because the water is not the primary subject but an atmospheric backdrop to the smooth tactile feel of the worn rocks ... leading to a tranquil feel. Definitely the last image by a distance for me ....and the mono suits it too .
  19. Good choice Cheryl ... A BIG slap on the back Kerry ... I really like it because the water is not the main focus of the image in this long exposure and the rocks are the primary actors ... lovely tranquil effect . 20. Appreciate the time you have spent doing these Fogey .I think I will pop a post in the Latte lounge and Chat Box to draw attention to them as they may go unnoticed by some members for a while ... I think I will also add a link in the welcome letter to new members . Thanks for doing that ...
  21. Well done Mik … you are proving yourself a very proficient macro togger …
  22. Looks a smashing spot Dee … we love seeing the vistas in your vicinity … more please …
  23. I really like all the green …. It means the heron is absolutely the star of this image … and a double take too with the reflection.
  24. That’s a nice image …unusually simple background for a fairground carousel … well spotted. Cheryl .
