  5. A man of many talents, well done to you, a nicely proportioned 'muriel' I think
  6. I have had trouble today with my system, not windows related, but Hardware. I am quite used to replacing capacitors on the motherboard, I have done five so far with a one millimeter fine drill and a soldering iron. This time the motherboard is really playing up. BIOS trouble methinks. Now, the thing is this. I have been looking at building another system, but there are some companies out there that will build to your requirements. So, I have 'specced' a system incorporating an ASUS motherboard , six core AMD 3.4Mhz CPU, a 700 watt Enermax power supply, eight gig of Crucial RAM, a 1TB hard drive partitioned to 100GB for the system including a page file, the rest split between an E drive and D drive. 2Gb Nvidia graphics card, but for the OS I have chosen Windows 7 home edition. All this will run to just over £500 with a 2 year warranty. Some will say a little over the top, but for images and the like it will be a beast...My old computer I'm using now that I built myself, has lasted without too many breakdowns. They were due mostly to useless cheap capacitors that flooded the motherboard market ten years ago! Is Windows 8 really porked or shall I stick with the option of having 7 installed, it comes with a disc and licence?

Well done Terry That must be satisfying to see one of the pics you have taken being published.

Crikey! I may hang on to this old system for a good while yet!
  9. Dear Dave, We have seen your work, unfortunately you are also too good, and it would be best for you to take up tiddlywinks or stamp collecting Welcome to the forum
  10. it will take a shift in the jet stream to bring Americas cold here, even then, the Atlantic will warm that front into more rain. The same spill of cold air over Scandinavia and Russia however...Then you can talk '63 again My personal belief? first week or two of February for snow from the north of England, south into East Anglia.

  13. Hello, good evening, and welcome
  14. I think you have made a good job of the edit Colin. I really do like edits like this, a snapshot of the past within a modern image. Have a look look at Nick Stone's work , all taken in Norwich and matched up to images taken in the Blitz. http://www.landgirl1980.co.uk/2011/08/blitz-ghosts-interview.html

    Best of 2013

It was annies shot Colin. And very good too. There were so many good photographs, I think it would take me a while to find a favourite. Picture of the year category?

    Perplexed!

Quoting, as Richard says is a way of highlighting a section of a previous post that you feel you need to bring to attention, On some forums, quoting the entire previous post is frowned upon. Some of the aviation forums I frequent are made up of the same quoted and requoted posts over and over again, takes you twenty minutes to actually read something new in the posts
  18. Oh dont worry, I have it on good authority that we shall be shoulder deep in the stuff from mid Jan to mid February 2014.
  19. Well all I can do is wish you well and hope you have a relatively painless new year Colin. Please dont blame the NHS itself, just the pillocks who sort the funding out for it, and cut the services they want to offer
  20. The Konica is a camera? ...I thought it was a personalised Stormtroopers helmet..
  21. I may get around to sharing a photo I took once that I have never been able to explain. I shall see how this thread develops
  22. Ha be careful Leon, a story goes that a chap did something similar at Duxford airfield twenty five year ago. The airfield was rumoured to have the ghost of a 1940's fighter pilot wandering about. A chap I knew vaguely, dressed up in 1940 pattern flying kit complete with flying helmet and oxygen mask to 'wander' around the outside of the former Officers Mess at night when there was a Dinner being held inside. He did hope to cause the same effect on the diners for a laugh. Until he claimed that as he was peering in through a window, the ghost was stood next to him peering at him. He never stayed on the airfield after dark again.
