ON ROUGH WATERS

This was a chance shot.........I had my 200mm lens on the GX7 today, a lady was throwing bread for the Gulls and Ducks, this gull had just landed.

My shutter speed was way up and I used Focus Tracking, it worked.......I would have stayed longer but had an impatient walking mate with me.

Thank you all.....

What makes it jump out even more is the fact that, what looks like an eye catchlight isnt.......look closer and you will see that it is a lucky water droplet created immediately after a fast landing on the very rough surface.........you can see many more droplets around the bird.

My GX7 plus it's 200 mm can really produced the goods at times.

The amazing thing is .....

It's a pretty hefty crop from the bottom LH corner of the frame.......there are many other water fowl and gulls around, all heckling for food.

I am soooo pleased with the results from my GX7 and the LUMIX and SIGMA lenses I have.

Increasing shutter speed to around 1300 and the camera to Focus Tracking really came together to produce this very sharp result.

I just have to remember to re-set to my usual Aperture Priority and normal pinpoint focus afterwards.

Here is the original shot, totally untouched except being reduced for posting here..you can see I had to do a bit of cloning out too.
