The next couple of days.....

May not be around too much for a couple of days. The reason - totally in conflict with what you are all experiencing just now, and, probably, totally 'alien' to you all!

This Thursday is currently forecast with extreme temps. (42degC plus), and strong winds, making it a potentially 'extreme' fire danger day, and warnings are being issued already. This is being predicted, at this stage, as perhaps as bad as Black Saturday in 2009, or Ash Wednesday in 1983. I was going to do a blog on this sort of stuff, but it's going to have to wait a little while.

What it means for us? Well, I'm currently making sure all my digital photos are backed up both to disc, and to external hard drive. Tomorrow, we will be packing the camper trailer up with spare clothes, dried food, dog food, and all our most important docs. - birth certs., Insurance stuff, business stuff, passports etc, etc.

Thursday I have to go to work, and will be away from home most of the day. My car will go with me, and in the back will be two containers full of all the old photo albums and slides, and any irreplaceable framed pictures of the family.

Sounds a bit weird? Actually we are revising and refining our fire safety plan, which is necessary here. The likelyhood is that, should a disaster occur, we would only get about 30 mins to get out and get safe, and I may be at work, so Hubby, David, has to be ready to move himself, the dogs and the camper to safety.

Hopefully nothing serious is going to happen, (been there, done that a few times), and this will be, as I said, 'revision and refine' for the coming Summer. Bit time consuming though, so don't think I'm ignoring, just busy for a short while.

Truly the other side of the coin Kobi, I'm beginning to wonder if the residents of Hebden Bridge Yorks, Worcester, and most towns in the west country have a similar plan for flood alerts.

I hope all goes well for you, temperatures like that i can live without thank you very much!, although my wife loves the heat, I'm a cooler sort of bloke!

I'm sure it will be as entertaining as ever.

Fingers crossed the weather forecasters have got it wrong but better to be safe than sorry. Take care.

Thanks for the good wishes, all. :D We are just about 'sorted'. Still expecting a not very nice day tomorrow, (forecast now for 43deg plus!) but hopefully nothing serious. Fires will occur, somewhere in the State, as they have done in the past week or so. One, started about 10 days ago, by lightening strikes, is still burning in a National Park area, so no homes in danger, but almost 5,000 hectares now burned. Just about to 'shut down' for the day, it's already 36Deg, so we're going to top up the doggie swimming pool in the shade house!

Hit 26Deg at 5.30am this morning. Getting very sticky already, and still heading for at least 43Deg. Can't see me doing to much active stuff with my afternoon exercise group! Been outside and done heaps of watering, and now we are pumping water up from the dam to the garden tank to fill up again. Hoses at the ready!
